Cynisca Update: Mid-Season Camp Photo Recap; and Sarkisov Takes 3rd in Charente-Maritime Stage

11-20 July 23 — The Cyniscas used a mid-July training camp as an opportunity to regroup, refresh and renew the team’s commitment to helping young cyclists develop and improve their skills. Most of the team and some staff spent a week at our Château de Saint-Martory base and service course near the Pyrénées. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect locale to start our rides or a more picturesque backdrop for some fabulous photography. Here’s a glance at our week:

Tour de Charente-Maritime Féminin

22-23 July 23 — The Tour de Charente-Maritime Féminin was a three part stage race in southwestern France. The stages included:

1) an 86 km road race from Saintes to Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge

2) a 10.6 km ITT in Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge (both stages 1 & 2 on Saturday)

3) a 99 km road race from Puy-du-Lac to Saintes on Sunday.

The team main goal was to put all the skills learned at team camp into practice during a race. Our objectives were to win a stage and be top 5 in general classification (GC).

Stage Highlights:

Stage 1: Ashley – Most aggressive rider (a fruit basket winner from the organizer!) She also worked to set up her teammates in the sprint. Anna finished 11th and Chloe 17th.

Stage 2 (Individual Time Trial): Chloe – 7th and Pauline 17th

Stage 3: Team positioning and communication was much improved from Stage 1. Anna was Katherine’s final lead-out and Kat finished 3rd in the stage and 2nd in the bunch sprint.

Overall: Chloe finished 7th in GC and Pauline 15th.
