Cynisca /si’niss’kuh/ was a Spartan chariot racehorse trainer who became the first female Olympic champion in 396 & 392 BC. She broke barriers by entering in and winning the then male-only Olympics. Her legendary success provides inspiration to our young women cyclists today.
Our goals are to secure World Tour race invites and acquire 2026 funding sufficient to move up a team classification level in Europe and also support a USA-based developmental team. Cynisca has been accepted to three World Tour races already in 2025, including the Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold.
Behind the scenes, we are predominantly women-run staff, and continuing our commitment to developing female talent in 2025, we have hired a former professional cyclist as an assistant directeur sportif (DS) to mentor and guide our riders. We have also hired one of our retired riders as our new social media manager.
Cynisca Cycling is a non-profit organization dedicated to women in sports. The team, its partners, sponsors and supporters are making a long-term investment in the future of women’s cycling. Our mission is to help a diverse, young group of athletes and women in the cycling industry reach the top tiers of cycling both on and off the bike.
