Cynisca Cycling Founding Story

Cynisca Cycling is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to helping talented women reach the highest levels of professional cycling. We provide athletes with the racing opportunities, guidance and support they need to build sustainable careers—on and off the bike.

Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2022, Cynisca funded and managed a European-based women’s pro team for three years. The team won numerous races in Europe and North America and received invitations to several World Tour events.

Today, our Pathways Fund primarily supports American women under 25 by helping them secure positions on select professional teams and funding salaries, team support, and logistical expenses. Through strategic partnerships, mentorship, and direct investment in athletes, we are creating a stronger pipeline to the sport’s highest levels.

Our name honors Cynisca of Sparta, the first woman to become an Olympic champion. Her barrier-breaking legacy continues to inspire our mission: empowering the next generation of women to compete, lead and succeed.
